How to do a Prayer Walk through Your Home

As a wife, mom, and homemaker, there are so many things that I desire to have in my home: Service to God, love, peace, safety, hospitality, and grace, just to name a few. Before we go out into the world each day, our home is our starting point. I want this place to be so saturated with prayer, Scripture, and service that evil has no opportunity to invade. When my husband comes home each evening, I want him to be greeted with an abundance of peace and love. I want to be able to sense God’s presence here every single day. Talk about homemaking goals, right? If you’re anything like me, a house like that sounds like a dream come true! So how do we begin to cultivate a home full of God’s goodness? One way is to saturate your home with prayer through regular prayers walks. Use this time to…

Taking Time to Focus on What Really Matters Today

This past week, my entire family came down with a terrible stomach virus. Needless to say, it was a tough week all around. While we were sick, my thoughts and prayers were filled with concern for my family, especially our young daughter, who we worried would need to go to the hospital (thankfully, she bounced back quickly!). Once we were all on the mend, my thoughts quickly turned to everything that was sorely neglected during those days of sickness: The housework, this blog, appointments that were missed, and so on. My to-do list quickly grew, and I felt exhausted trying to catch up on everything, or at least not get further behind. I didn’t prioritize prayer or Bible study time. I found myself making a mental grocery list during play time with my daughter. I started thinking about Faithfully Committed while my husband was trying to have a conversation with…

20 Random Acts of Kindness You Can Do Today

When we look around at all the need that exists in this world, it’s easy to get overwhelmed. We think that making an impact is impossible. How can I possibly help? How can God possibly use me for His good and glory? And so we do nothing. But what if we’re thinking about this all wrong? What if instead trying to create large-scale, elaborate change, we start with small, simple acts of kindness to those around us? What if we just start by reaching out a hand to someone in need? Letting someone know they’re on our minds and that we care? What if we start giving our time, energy, and love more freely? A simple word. A small gesture. A loving action. God will use, bless, and multiply these beyond our wildest dreams. All we have to do is act. Here are 20 small and simple random acts of…

16 Bible Verses For Wives And Moms Who Are Fighting For Their Families

As a Christian wife and mom, it seems like there’s always room for improvement, doesn’t it? We read about ways to improve our marriages, our homes, our families, and ourselves. We add some things here and take away some things there, trying to find that perfect balance in the many areas that need our daily attention: Faith, marriage, children, homemaking, ministry, health, work, friends, and so on. We strive, we fight, we work, always seeking to do our absolute best each day. We hear messages geared toward Christian women that are meant to be helpful but sometimes sound- to our ears- like we’re just not trying hard enough and we’re just not doing enough, because if we tried hard enough and did enough, our families would be thriving. Most of the time we welcome the helpful words but, sometimes, the amount of advice and tips and checklists can feel overwhelming.…

10 Christian Books to Nurture Your Marriage in 2017

I’ve always loved books. Growing up, if I wasn’t outside playing soccer, you could find me curled up on the couch with a book in my hand. My parents would frequently joke that they were going to go broke trying to get me new books! Although I don’t play soccer anymore and my time on the couch is limited by my very active daughter, I still love books! So it’s no surprise that after I got engaged, I wanted to read every book I could possibly get my hands on about Christian marriage and how to be a good wife for the man God has given me. God has used each of the books on this list to minister to my heart, provide comfort in tough times, change me in more ways than I can count, and, most importantly of all, to bring me closer to God and closer to…

Teaching Yourself To Crave God’s Word

It seems like the words “to crave” are usually reserved for things that are bad for us. We crave chocolate cake. Or a large, caffeinated coffee drink (my personal favorite!). We rarely seem to “crave” healthy things, like salads or exercise. Unless we take the time necessary to cultivate those cravings. For example, if you start exercising every day, eventually you’ll notice your body craving that physical activity, until you just don’t feel right without it. Same with healthy food. If you make an effort to cut down on sugar, you’ll probably find that healthy food tastes better, and your body actually starts to crave meals that are good for you. I believe that the same is true with Bible study. As Christians, reading God’s Word should be a very important part of our daily lives. As we read His Word, we grow closer to Him and become in tune…
